 1. History:

 

Kasr ALaini Medical School is the oldest, biggest and the most famous medical school not only in Egypt but also in Africa and Middle East.

 

Kasr ALaini Medical School was opened in Abu Zaabal in 1827 as the school of Medicine. The original building in which the school of Medicine was located in El-Aini Palace built by Ibn El-Aini and named after him. In 1925 it became part of the University of Cairo , and was given the name of faculty of Medicine , and was separated from the Higher Institute of Nursing and the Higher Institute of Physiotherapy.

 

The Faculty of Medicine overlooks the east bank of the Nile whereas the Faculty of pharmacology is in Kasr El Aini Street. The Faculty of Dentistry and the Higher Institute of Nursing are located on Roda Island within the boundaries of the University Hospital in Manial.
